SignAnywhere Free (SA Free) is an application that allows to sign and validate documents using the smartcard issued by E-ME.
SA Free is based on the Java Platform, therefore, it can be used on any operating system that supports "Java Runtime Environment" version 5.0 or later.
SA Free can be used on Microsoft Windows, Linux, MacOS X and other operating systems.
SA Free may be used free of charge for personal and commercial use.
In order to use SA Free, the following is required:

When downloading SA Free for the first time, it will be installed on your computer.
During the installation all the files required for the application will be copied on your computer.
SA Free updates are downloaded automatically, if the internet connection is available at the application startup.
Also is available SA Free offline installer for MS Windows operating systems.

The PKCS11 "Gemplus" smartcard drivers are required to add the digital signatures.
Currently these drivers are available for MS Windows, Linux and Mac OS X operating systems only.
If the electronic document has to be validated only, any additional components are not required.
In order to add digital signatures, the following is required:
- Smartcard issued by E-ME
- PCSC compatible smartcard reader
- Gem Safe Standard Edition 5.0
SA Free is developed using the EDOC Java Libraries.
